Grand Touring Open House
By David Nguyen
Got invited to an open house at Grand Touring recently where they had a whole lot of neat cars on display and gave a shop tour. My favorite of the whole day was the vintage mid-engine Ferrari F1 car (early 1960s I believe). Just absolutely stunning. It had a front mounted radiator and used the chassis tubes themselves as radiator hoses to the back of the car. Probably had some problems with burning the driver, corrosion, and fatigue but it was a very creative and elegant attempt at reducing weight.
There were also vintage Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Aflas, Maseratis, and a few other cars in various states of restoration. It was a nice afternoon.
